We are thrilled to let you know that two more of our products gained their ‘Great Taste Stars’ this year. The Gluten Free Orange and Polenta cake was awarded one star, and our Gluten Free Granola gained two. It’s always great to find out others love our products as much as we do. Awarded by the Guild of Fine Food, the Great Taste Awards consists of a panel of over 500 experts. Made up of food experts, chefs, food writers, retailers and more, they give honest, unbiased feedback as everything is entered ‘Blind’. Each year we, along with thousands of other food producers, enter the bakes we feel are our best, and wait to see if a group of knowledgeable strangers agrees with our choices. It’s never a given that they will, and their feedback is always well received – especially any notes for improvement.
The judges thought our Orange and Polenta Cake was “A lovely-looking cake with a really good topping of edible flowers. The icing was sweet, but well balanced, with a sponge that tasted orangey, and we enjoyed the texture from the polenta. A good cake with well-balanced flavours.” Based on an Italian polenta cake, this moist cake is made with polenta and ground almonds, infused with orange syrup and finished with an orange icing. Dried flowers are scattered over the top, making it a truly stunning cake. This cake is a great addition to an afternoon tea, to serve to wedding guests or at baby showers.
We were thrilled to gain two stars for our granola, which we have been producing for about 18 months now. It started life as a great addition to our bakery offerings, we wanted to create a granola that was free from oils and upf’s. Containing gluten free oats, butter and local honey, it’s a crunchy granola filled with seeds, nuts, fruit and spices. The Great Taste Judges said it is a “Dark indulgent looking granola, this has an enticing aroma. A wonderful crunch releases a delicious flavour profile rich with the quality roasted ingredients that are so well balanced, giving great complexity and length to this very well made and tasty granola – a great way to start a morning. ” And we agree. Feedback from our customers indicates that not only do you love to eat it sprinkled on yogurt, but apparently it makes a great snack for movie night too!
