Christmas at Ginger Bakers HQ

Christmas is coming …..

It’s been a really busy Autumn for everyone at GB and Christmas is fast approaching. At the end of the summer we were delighted to start supplying the Lake District Visitors Centre at Brockhole run by The National Park the same week they were awarded UNESCO status, which was an amazing achievement for The Lake District. It has been fantastic working with their new catering operations manager Michael Van-Heste who came to the Lake District with an amazing pedigree after running the cookery school at Michelin starred Northcote in Lancashire after previously working at the world famous Betty’s cookery school in Harrogate. Michael is developing new relationships with local producers to bring a more local and high quality food offering to each of Brockhole’s food outlets, we are thrilled to have him supporting artisanal food businesses like ours.

Our founder Ginger Baker Lisa Smith was shortlisted in the Eva’s in September – awards for inspirational businesswomen in the North West. During British Food Fortnight she was also surprised and thrilled to receive a “Food Heroine Award” from the Co-op who have now listed a selection of GB cakes in their local stores in Cumbria. Also during the month we headed to London to exhibit at the Speciality Food Fair, Olympia were we met lots of new customers from farm shops and delicatessens all over the UK.

We have appeared in the new Booths Country Christmas Catalogue that was published at the beginning of November. Our Gluten Free range of individually wrapped boxed tray bakes is still proving to be very popular in all Booths Country stores, the Christmas products they have chosen are also now available too. It’s really lovely supplying stores who champion small artisan food producers and their support is really valuable to us all here in the bakery.

 

Lisa enjoyed a hectic few days away from the bakery visiting Anuga – one of the biggest food trade shows in the world, hopefully as we grow we will look at the possibility of our cakes heading a bit further afield for more people to enjoy.

 

Big thanks to everyone who came to see us at Holker Hall Winter Market, we had a fabulous weekend and it was an amazing atmosphere with so many visitors. Remember you can call in to our little shop at the bakery, which is open all day Monday – Friday and Saturday morning.

We have some fantastic new Winter Spiced Brownies this season and hope you will call in to sample some of our delicious cakes and tray bakes. We would love to see you.
